The Jacob Leisler Institute for the Study of Early New York History (Hudson, NY) is pleased to announce it has selected Jonah Howard, a graduating senior from Chatham High School, Chatham, New York, as the 2023 recipient of the Ruth Piwonka Scholarship. Jonah demonstrated dedication to the study of history through his submitted essay supported by a strong letter of recommendation. Given the strength of his application, the board decided that Jonah was the candidate of choice for receiving the award. The scholarship, in memory of Columbia County historian Ruth Piwonka, will help to further Jonah’s education at The College of Saint Rose in Albany.
