The Jacob Leisler Institute’s participation in the Hudson Children’s Book Festival on Saturday May 6, 2023 was a success. After being cancelled for several years due to the pandemic, this event, one of the largest children’s book festivals in the nation, brought enthusiastic parents and children to explore the rich diversity of children’s literature. It makes me proud to live in a community where families of all incomes, races, and creeds come together to support the world of ideas. We ran out of nearly all our adult brochures as well as children’s coloring pages, especially those relating to the Claverack Giant. I want to thank Tina Lesem for creating our display, Institute Administrator Dylan Jenks (in picture) for being a partner throughout the event, Joe Connelly for helping get our materials there, and Dan Renehan, Sarah Sterling, and Luisa Sabin-Kildiss (on left) for helping tend the table. And, of course, the parents, teachers, and students.
