With materials documenting more than two hundred years of published scholarship on colonial New York, the books of the Jacob Leisler Institute Library represent the past and current states of the field. Ranging from settlement-specific studies to translated records and biographies, our library collection offers resources for scholars of myriad fields. The books and journals that comprise the bulk of the collection are only available for use on-site.
Among our most prized collections is the Kees-Jan Waterman Collection (added in 2019), which primarily focuses on Indian and European interaction in North America. This acquisition elevates the Jacob Leisler Institute Library’s holdings on that subject area to a unique level. More about the Waterman Collection can be found here.
